Town Crier - June 2nd City Council Meeting

The Tuesday, June 2nd City Council meeting will begin with a request to extend the preliminary plat approval for the Winsted Industrial Park until September of 2010. The developer, Clay Montgomery, had a preliminary plat approved for this property located in the northwest corner of the intersection of CR 1 and CR 5 in 2006 and subsequently received approval from the City Council in December of 2008 to have the approval extended through September of 2009. If the request for extension is not granted, the developer must either make an application for a final plat or have the preliminary plat expire, which would require a new public approval process for the original plan.

In other business, the City Council will be presented with the city’s strategic plan for 2009 and 2010. The plan was created during the recent Council and staff retreat that included department reports and an evaluation of the city survey, which was conducted earlier in the year.

The City Council will also review a proposal by the City Engineer to prepare a facilities plan for the city’s sanitary sewer system. The plan would create a schedule for required improvements to the system (sewer lines, lift stations and the wastewater plant), as well as ways to finance each of these projects.

The Winsted City Council will meet to discuss these items at their meeting on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. in the Winsted City Hall Council Chambers. If you need more information on an issue, call City Hall and ask for the City Staff Report (not all agenda items have a corresponding report) which will provide you with background and financial information on the topic. Meetings are broadcasted live on Winsted Channel 10 at 6 p.m. and replayed on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., 7 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. In addition, pre-recorded video City Council meetings are available on the City of Winsted’s website at www.winsted.mn.us.

The “Town Crier” is created using the preliminary agenda for the upcoming City Council meeting. For a complete listing of all agenda items, please visit www.winsted.mn.us or pick an agenda up at City Hall.
